I watch my 6 year old grand-daughter after school everyday....
She has always loved my jewelry that I keep on my dresser on an antique tray that was my Grannys.
My daughter in law called me Saturday and told me that my grand daughter had stolen a bunch of my jewelry Friday when she was at my house.
I have been trying to think of a punishment for her but making her pick up trash around the neighborhood or sitting in time out doesn't seem like enough of a lesson....
I was thinking that maybe I would call the police dept and have the juvinile officer give her a tour of the local jail(it's a small town, no prisoners would be there) and maybe a lecture on how this is not the way to behave..
I think maybe they know how to deal with this type of thing better than I can and maybe "scare her straight"....and I don't mean terrify her....
Is this too harsh of a punishment for a child? Do you have any other suggestions? |
