As previously reported, Kiss frontman Paul Stanley suffered a "cardiac event" during soundcheck July 27th at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California. Stanley said his heart "spontaneously jumped to 190 plus beats per minute where it stayed for over an hour." He was taken by paramedics to a hospital where steps were taken to being his heart back to a normal rate. Stanley has posted the following statement about his condition: "To All My Friends And Fans, I wanted to let all of you know that I AM ABSOLUTELY FINE! I'm going to the gym as usual, painting as usual and will be going into the recording studio this week. Like many, I have had a rapid heart beat condition most of my life and I never have had any type of restrictions. When I've had an episode, although momentarily disrupting and taxing, it has no residual effect. This is nothing new and my doctors have known about it. In short, It doesn't change, hasn't changed and won't change my life. To make it clear... I WILL BE AT ROCK & ROLL FANTASY CAMP IN NY.. I WILL BE AT THE WENTWORTH ART GALLERY SHOW in Des Peres, MO. and anything else that's on schedule. I'm stoked and looking forward to it all. Thanks for the literally thousands of calls and e-mails from all of you. You all mean the world to me. Now ONWARD!" Paul

Kiss singer and guitarist, Paul Stanley was forced to pull out of a show in California on Friday after his heart started beating at more than twice the normal level. According to a statement on Stanley's website, the apparent tachycardia happened while the band was rehearsing for a performance at a casino in San Jacinto, California, about 90 miles east of Los Angeles. "My heart spontaneously jumped to 190 plus beats per minute, where it stayed for over an hour necessitating paramedics to start an IV and give me a shot to momentarily stop my heart and get it into a normal pattern," Stanley, 55, wrote on his site (http://www.paulstanley.com) A normal heart rate at rest is about 60 to 80 beats a minute, according to the American Heart Association. Tachycardia, or rapid heart rate, can cause palpitations, shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting or near fainting, the group said on its Web site (http://www.americanheart.org). Stanley said he was advised performing would be risky, and the show went on without him. Gene Simmons told fans the group would play as a trio, and turned the show into a tribute to his ailing bandmate.

Late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott will be the focus of this weekend's (June 23) "Headbanger's Ball" as he gets inducted into Hollywood's RockWalk. Look out for nine "Beyond the Ball" short art pieces with family and friends scattered throughout the two-hour show. Scott Ian (ANTHRAX), Jerry Cantrell (ALICE IN CHAINS), John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE), Six-String Masterpieces, Little Kids Rock and more all honor and pay tribute to Dime's life, music and legacy. Zakk Wylde plays "In This River" for Dimebag at the RockWalk induction ceremony. "Headbanger's Ball" airs Saturday nights between 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. on MTV2. As previously reported, Spread Entertainment went behind the scenes at the Black Tooth Bash on May 17, 2007 at the House of Blues in Hollywood, California to speak with a number of the musicians who performed in honor of late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, including members of ALICE IN CHAINS, LINKIN PARK, ANTHRAX and Dimebag's brother Vinnie Paul. Watch the Spread Entertainment coverage at YouTube: Part#1, Part#2. The music and memory of "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott lived on as friends, family, and fans rocked the night away. Early acoustic performances included "It's Been A While" by Aaron Lewis (STAIND), "Simple Man" by Brent Smith and Jasin Todd of SHINEDOWN, ALICE IN CHAINS, and "Wish You Were Here" with Pearl Aday (ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian's fiancée and daughter of legendary crooner Meat Loaf) on vocals, accompanied by Scott Ian and Jerry Cantrell on acoustic guitars. Things kicked into high gear with Chester Bennington and Dave Navarro joining forces, covering JANE'S ADDICTION, LED ZEPPELIN, and AC/DC. Doug Pinnick of KING'S X joined ALICE IN CHAINS onstage, and Tim "Ripper" Owens tore through selections including VAN HALEN and JUDAS PRIEST with Eddie Jackson and Mike Stone of QUEENSRŸCHE with HATEBREED's Matt Byrne on drums. After a dazzling array of powerhouse classics, Ace Frehley led a high-energy "Cold Gin" with Vinnie Paul on drums. The evening ended with a bang as all musicians took the stage for PANTERA's "Walk". Check out the photos at www.zrock.com.
