Once upon a time there was a princess
who lived in the most beautiful castle on this earth
She had everything a young girl could wish for
but she hated her life and swore it was a curse.
All the men loved to see her
she was the fairest sight anyone could ever see
I know the exact points of view of the princess
because that princess is me.
No one ever understood her, no one took the time
no one cared of how she felt
she never talked to anyone,
and she was always by herself.
She wrote what she thought,
wrote things that would happen to her
she didn’t know how good her life was
and how important the people around her were.
She was always locked up in her little room
deeply looking out into the clear blue sky
wishing on all she had
that her handsome prince would soon ride by.
She wished and prayed and hoped her little heart out
she long awaited her unknown prince
She longed for the day he would find her
and dreamt upon their first kiss.
Every night she would count the stars
and wish upon them all night long
and every morning, throughout the daylight
she would sing her hopeful song.
She had done everything to find her soul mate
the princess knew nothing about mankind
She didn’t know that all men do
is play with young girls' hearts, and lie.
For if she knew the truth of men,
she would dread the day her prince would ride,
she would hate their life together,
and despise each second he was by her side.
Everyone tried to warn her
but she was so blind,
the prince she was destined for
is the exact definition of what men are like.
One sunny day, the day he was to find her
she was singing her hopeful song
she didn’t know that was the day
her prince would ride along.
He came ever so gracefully
and she fell in love with him at first sight
with that warm feeling in her heart
she knew it just felt right.
At the sight of the prince, she jumped with joy
at the sight of his smile, she shouted with glee
"I knew he would come if I kept my hopes up,
I knew he would come for me!"
The wise women of the town
and the wise men of the kingdom
all shook their heads in shame,
they wished he'd never come.
The princess ran down the flights of stairs
that led to her destiny and fate
she loved him now, she was sure
he was worth the wait.
She left everyone she loved
she left her family and the people who cared
she easily disregarded
all the times that they shared.
She, in a second chose the man
over all the people who loved her
every time she saw them
she'd pretend she didn’t know who they were.
Little did she know
that he would hurt her much too soon
and she would chant a spell on
the day she prayed for him in her room.
He had cut her heart with all his actions,
he had pierced her soul with all his words,
he had cheated and tricked her blindly
the day they met was a deadly curse.
he never really loved her
and she accepted the painful truth
she never listened to others
they already knew.
She never grew strong enough
to tell him how she was feeling inside
she kept all her secrets and wishes
deep within her heart and mind.
this princess forgot the sight of a smile
she forgot the sound of laughter
this is one princess
who would never live happily ever after.
never again did she wish upon a star
never again did she pray for her prince
the last time she did, it worked
and she's never done it since.
She was afraid of his manly strength
she feared all the power he had
she was doomed to a life
where she was forced to be depressed and sad.
she never talked after that
she would never speak her mind,
this is what happened to a princess
once upon a time.
