I'm not quite tired yet.
Still a bit bored... and jamming my life with a fork.
I haven't been able to pick up and run with my character concept yet.
That's frustrating.
What isn't frustrating,
what is in fact awesome is losing 12lbs in a month
and being able to cook for myself for a week.
So I combined a couple of my favorite things
pasta
olive oil
balsalmic vinegar
garlic
lemon juice
spring onions
asparagus
and pork sausage (or bacon)
and parsley, basil, and chive blossoms from the garden.
Salt
pepper
I dunno. Simple. Delicious.
Took an opportunity to combine some of my favorite flavors, and as usual I asked if I was a genius, or if I just knew exactly how to make what I like.
We might not ever know >>
I like to blanch vegetables, or leafy greens like spinach and arugala in my strainer, and pour my noodles/boiling water over em
I do it with brocolli
... actually I've been on a green vegetable kick lately.
Brocolli
asparagus
arugala
spinach
artichokes
But I still prefer my asparagus fried in a skillet and cut tiny.
*shrugs* so I ate vegetable pasta with a vinegrette, and a smidge of meat all week.
I guess it came to me from talking to my aunt about pesto (she never makes/eats it)
and I said that "basically anything good in a green salad will probably make a good blended pesto"
I mean
take my pistachio-spinach
arugala-walnut
artichoke-pickled sweet pepper-sunflower seed-green olive
as examples
olive oil works
a splash of lemon juice works
a splash of balsalmic vinegar doesn't hurt anything >>
some aged cheese would add a good accent
clarified butter would probably work >>
garlic tends to help
if it works as a pesto- it works as a deconstructed saute/blanch over noodles.
I still wanna make a cucumber based sauce though...
maybe that'll be next week.
cucumber yogurt over chilled noodles... and diced tomatoes
and diced bell peppers/onions
... sounds like a decent pasta-salad to me.
... with pepperoni
everything's better with cured spiced sausage.
and green olives.
... and artichokes.
I think I'm hungry again.
And for some reason I want to try gaspaccio (did not spell that right) over cold noodles.
