Good Thursday Morning to you. I did not watch American Idol last night because of the horrific showing of it on Tuesday Night. You know, being an Idol fan due to liking all types of music and with exception of three of the shows past overall winners have pretty much enjoyed the top ten all the years that the show has aired. But, the producers need to know people watch for the good and great performers not for the William Hung want to be likes. I mean come on.. that was funny when he tried to do the song from Ricky Martin called “She Bangs” but, my word…Tuesday night was absolutely ridiculous. There had to be more air time on gosh darn awful singers who were tone deaf, dressed way overboard in things as wacky as Apollo Creed and far to weirder outfits that you would not see at most Halloween Masquerade parties. The few they allowed you to see that were deemed through to Hollywood were somewhat good. One chick did a song by Blondie but hacked it up and was given a chance to do a Shakira song and she was actually pretty good. Most people who watch American Idol do it for the singers that are good at least I would like to think so. As one of the judges told a person who came in juggling sticks with frilly things on the ends of them and tried to sing a song while doing so was told he had the wrong venue…They told him he should go on America’s got Some Talent. They were wrong…I think he would waste air time on that show as well. Most of these weirdos would be gong show rejects at best. Granted most people are not tone deaf that apply and get a chance on American Idol but still go on and put the judges through hell or do they? It seems the whole thing is contrived to be entertaining to the viewer watching Simon, Randy and Paula butcher would-be singer candidates. But… here is the rest of the story. All these singers they say come in first time and try their luck are actually auditioning and being directed into various songs for future American Idol commercials, filler spots and here’s a thought, when the winner comes through those double doors and has the Yellow sheet declaring they have won a chance to move on… who the hell hands them the sheet and where are they at? It looks like the person comes flying out happy as can be and bolts out through the door without the sheet, and then when you see the person come out facing you just like they just got the news about winning they have the yellow slip in hand… Yes I know, things need to be secured to keep the show clean and somewhat orderly but as with the famous show survivor all those extras helping out the survivor crew are kept hidden. I would like to see American Idol keep some of these singers (so called) kept hidden and save our sanity. I hear on the radio during my trip into work today that last nights show was also sucky at best. They kept referring to Monkey Boy…No idea and so glad I did not put my self through that adventure. I will certainly watch the final 12 or 10 how ever many it will be once they pick them. But this garbage prior to that…I have seen all I want to of that. The Youngest has Interview day with the judges tomorrow and again I want her to do well just not sure I can handle being the dad of another community queen. I think she has just as much chance as anyone else just I have that feeling (you know that one where you think nice thought but no way Jose, oh pardon my Spanish…) I would just like her to have fun and not be upset with the final outcome. She is strong, but as a parent you never want to see your child hurt…but, life is what it is and not all peaches and cream and bushy roses dangling around us. We will take what it is and if she is devastated…dad will make sure she knows she is still a queen in my eyes. Like I said the whole venture turns very costly but to see that child smile would be worth ever cent…. Gosh how often do we as parents pick up the pieces and try to soften the blow…but, as I look back on the three girls growing up…I would not change a thing if I could go back and change anything, I would only change what school system they attended…. Have a great day Mart
