Case File 415

I love being a police detective.I always knew that I was destined for great things.Even when I'm not on the clock something always comes up.A new case opens up.Today I was able to unite a mother and child after tracking down the father who had decided to kidnap his own little girl while she was sleeping in her room. The father had lost shared custody rights due to the allegations of physical abuse from his ex-wife.Not to mention on his own daughter. This man was crazy and dangerous. The things I read from physcological background told me that much.It took me two months before I was able to catch up and find this man.The place he chose to hide was away from society.I traced him in a wooded area.My number one concerned was the childs safety first and for most. The moment I found him I called for my backup.Something in my gut told me to wait for my backup before heading toward the shack home. But my body was playing at a different beat.Luckily for me before I could do anything stupid like walking straight toward the old shack where the man held his daughter, the guy stepped out of the shack. When his back was turned to me that's when I reacted.I charged straight towards hims not thinking about anything else other than taking him down.I was sure that he was unarmed but I was wrong. He must have sensed somebody moving on him because this man spun around in one motion and fired off a round from his pistol. Our eyes locked for a brief second before he tried to take me out.The bullet did'nt even come close to hitting me.I dived low and tackle the man to the ground. We struggled on ground for what to me felt like an eternity.Somehow through sheer will I was able to knock the gun loose from his hands and using brute strength I manage to pull the guys arm behind his back and handcuff him for the arrest.Behind me I could hear my fellow brothers in blue coming on the scene.Lefting the man up I handed him over to a young rookie who was on his second week on the force. When I saw that the little 7year old girl was safe and unharmed I was relieved so was the girls mother who I met while I was in my office. They stopped by to thank me for uniting them back together.I was just glad that this story did'nt end tragically like some of these other missing children cases. As I pull on my black trench coat drive home I stare down at the gift basket given to me by the mother of that little brave girl.I pick up the thank you card made by the child and can't help but smile at the drawn picture of me and words my hero.I place the picture back on the gift basket. This is what it's all about.Helping people and saving lives. It's what I live for. It's what drives me everyday as I get out of bed.Solving cases is what I do best.
