• Good Morning. I am in the mitts of a sneezing frenzy. My gosh those get to me. Where was I? Oh no where yet I have just begun. I have heard there are various forms of dating rituals and who is and who are the most dominating of the species. Who is not, and who gives a flying…The average person could care less. They are just happy to be there, be loved and feel secure…right? Well, perhaps not. Let us take the equation just a step further. Dating. There are various types of dates, well lets not get into the if ands and buts of the dates or better yet lets change from human to Animal’s for instance. I believe some of us can be considered animals in…well let’s move on this is getting out of control in my head so I am lane changing once more without signaling first. Take for instance spiders…ewww There is a study that shows spiders date…OH YEA! I am not making this up. Yes they date and some of there dates are casual. Casual dating can be dangerous. A study of spider’s shows female wolf spiders will eat strange-looking males (hmm I think that fact is not just true to spiders alone) that try to mate with them, but spare and even hook up with familiar-looking males. The findings provide not just an interesting insight into spider behavior, but may help explain actions by "higher" animals, said archeologist Eileen Hebets of Cornell University in New York. "The female is using earlier experience that is going to affect her mate choice later," Hebets said in a telephone interview. "It is reasonable to expect that is a common thing in other animals." Hebets worked with Schizocosa uetzi spiders, commonly known as wolf spiders. The female, which is slightly larger, can choose (a) to mate, (b) to run away or (c) to eat her suitor. Apparently, running away is not a very frequently used option..... So perhaps we might learn a few things from our eight legged critters. Perhaps dating strange looking counter parts is ok…to an extent. I mean if the date fails you can always do what the spider does…just kidding…Oh and no spiders were harmed in the making of this blog… I think…
