Russian Parliament speaker claims Santa Claus is a fraud!
You might imagine that Santa would be welcome the world over... but you would be wrong.
A Kremlin official yesterday claimed that Father Christmas was an 'imposter' and an 'illegal immigrant'. I believe some people are taking legends and myth’s way too serious…
Speaker of the Russian Parliament Boris Gryzlov insisted that the only authentic figure for bringing presents to Russia's children was Ded Moroz - Grandfather Frost.
Mr Gryzlov was at Velikiy Ustyug, traditional home of Ded Moroz in the far north of the country, when he said: 'No one will ever be able to take away Ded Moroz from Russia - not Santa Claus nor any other imposters.
Illegal immigrant: Santa Claus is an 'imposter', a top Kremlin official has claimed behind his attacks on Santa Claus --whom he urged to 'get out of the profession, at least in Russia' - is a fear of encroaching Western influences which have led to battles in the streets between Santas dressed in white beards and red coats and Ded Morozes dressed in blue.
Other differences are that Ded Moroz rests on Christmas Eve but distributes gifts at the New Year and he rides in a troika - or sleigh - drawn by horses (although he has sometimes been spotted struggling out of a Lada, a Russian Car…).
Also, instead of elves, he is accompanied by his attractive granddaughter --the Snow Maiden or Snegurochka. Hmmm seems like Russian Holidays are more for the adults…
Although he is popular now, life was not always easy for Ded Moroz. He was persecuted under Stalin, being branded a 'priest's ally' in 1928.
I guess Santa is not welcome world wide…You know no matter if you believe in the Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy or Frankenstein and the wolf man why dampen the spirits of others holiday fun to make it just another day…I mean the whole world does not revolve around what one person or a group thinks…my gosh allow people in this day and age to have fun, do not allow Stalinist Marshall Law to influence how you celebrate anything…I am not just talking about Ded Moroz the Man in the blue coat. I often wondered where that figurine was based on. I no longer wonder…I just think people need to have fun and laughter on holidays…You know I looked up the meaning of Holiday not because I did not know what it meant…because so many groups, fractions want to take Christmas and make it Just a Holiday… a time off work for those that are lucky enough to have a job that does not require them to work that day. I know I am skirting the Religious borders of this holiday and will have all the religious groups up in arms saying…Marty it’s the birth of Christ, it’s sacred and you should not write about such a religious holiday…Ya know what…trust me I believe…I surely believe, but I also believe way too many people take what was once a grand, fun, and fabulous memory for many and perhaps not every year it is fabulous, perhaps some years it is down right ugly, hurtful and brings more tears of pain then tears of joy…however…live in the ruins of the world of hate and discontent long enough…and you will never know what real joy is…This was not meant for anyone particularly, nor a certain group…it was meant to say hey…lighten up world…it is a piece of time that travels around 365 days a year…enjoy it with family friends or a pet named hound dog…or a golf fish named sue…just enjoy the time we all look to be more special to those who need, or are in need of…

Now no sending me hate mail because I stomped on the churches front step and shouted it’s a time for sharing and giving and kindness and laughter…I know what the day stands for…please…give me credit for understanding not everyone is all about this or that… but we all are riding on this same planet… so we do have many same feelings…
