The little girl sat in her closet listening to her world fall apart.Her mom and dad argued directly below ,in the kitchen.As the little girl listened,her heart shattering,her mind drifted back to a time when laughter rang through the house.
DADDY SWUNG THE LITTLE GIRL AS MOMMIE BROUGHT OUT A BIG PICTURE OF LEMONAID.the little girl jumped from the swing into her daddys arms and he carried her over to where mommy was pouring their lemonaid.mother and father kissed and then togather hugged the little girl.there was so much love.
now the mommy is screaming at the father and the father is shouting back.names are being called and the word hate hangs in the room like a thick fog.
again her mind drifts to the time she saw mommie kissing santa clauase.she could tell it was her father becouse he wore the same ring.she watched through the banister as mom and dad showed their undying devotion to each other and their child.
tears wear streaming down the little girls face as the screaming and yelling continued.each parent was screaming that the other parent ould never see their baby again.the little girl got her bratz suit case from inside the closet.as she began to throw things in her thoughts returned to the happier times.
times at the zoo holding mom and dads hands,times waiting for santa in line with mom and dad standing with her wiahingjust like she was.times crawling on the ground lookingfor eggs with dad as mom took the pic,and the times they celebrated her birthday with all her friends.
the little girl scribbled a note and grabbed her bag then went down the steps where her mom and dad were arguing.as she walked past the table she laid the note on her plate and looked at her mom,then her dad.they never looked at her once,so she walked out the door.
several hours later as the couples fight subsided,
the mother found the note on the little girls plate.sullenly she walked over to the father and handed him the note.after reading the letter they looked at each other with tears in their eyes.silently they looked at the picture on the wall pf them holding their new born baby girl.each held the letter in one as they slipped their hands into each others and looked into each others eyes.
togather they said,"im sorry honey"and then they both broke into tears as they hugged and for the first time in months they embraced and kissed.the letter fell to the carpet as the two headed for the door,not only as parents,but as lovers once again.
years pass and now they sit and watch as their little girl takes the hand of a young man as they exchange their vowes.later as the couple opens their presents,the little girl,now a woman ,holds in her hands a beautiful gold and glass frame.in the frameis a letter,written in crayon.
the young mother sits rocking her own little baby as the father sits next to her.their eyes come to meet and then both settle on the gold and glass frame hanging on the wall.inside the frame,a note,written in crayon,it simply says;
love each other as you love me.
that letter now hangs in my room next to the picture of my great,great grandma,the auther.
it played a big role in my family staying togather.when i lost my parents as a little kid,that frame was given put away for me till my 16 birthday.when my foster dad prsented it to me
it had no meaning.then when my little girl gave me a note several years later when i was getting divorsed,it all came flooding back to me.i opened the note from my little girl.it was in crayon and imply said,i love daddy'it now is on my wall next to my great great grandmas.
no ,it didnt save my marrage,but it did show me,theres no love like that of your own child.
