who woulda thunk that Shepard Fairey would come BACK to Riverside for his benefit show and foundation Sea No Evil?!
but he did with the Captain from Whale Wars as guest speaker and over 40 artists donating art to support the cause.
DJ Diabetic aka Shepard Fairey was playing music and taking pictures and signing stuff for fans the whole time.
i was one of the last people in line waiting to meet one of my idols and have him sign his book Post No Bills that ive had of his for years.
me and my friend Will were about 6-7 deep in line waiting and Mr.Fairey looked past the crowd and pushed passed em and walked up to me.
i was wearing my bad brains shirt and he asked..."what to you want to hear?"
i was dumbfounded for a second then he reminded me about my shirt haha.
and told me he's been wanting to play some bad brains.
so i asked him to play "how low can a punk get"...he said he didnt have that one.
so i picked Attitude and he said "fcuk yeah i got that one!"
i almost forgot to ask him to sign my book but i remembered at the last second.
he signed it!
took a picture with him and he told me cool shirt then went back on stage and started playing my request.
i didnt kiss his ass...i didnt need to.
hes a cool ass guy and he knows music for sure.
as well as art.
so when i tell people "fcuk Picasso"...theres a reason.
i like artists who are alive and doing something to change the world.
through popular culture and street tactics.
now theres someone i i truly respect and he came up to me to ask what Bad Brains song i wanted to hear haha.
