Yeah, my insomnia continues ad I tried to sleep all night but couldn't. So feeing rather odd I was just thinking about two things that strike me as the most beautiful things I know.
1. The density of water. Water has an amazing characteristic that makes life possible on this planet. Let's start with the gaseous form of water, steam. Water is least dense when it is steam and at the point it cools enough to form a liquid the density rises dramatically. Water, then gets denser as the temperature drops, all the way down to the point it becomes a solid, ice. It is at that point an amazing and beautiful thing happens. The density drops again, and so we have the fact that ice floats in water. If not for that fact ice would settle to the bottom of ponds and lakes and we would have no possibility for life as we know it. That's just beautiful!
2. The French term for orgasm is "une petite mort", or "a little death". I think that might be the most romantic thing I have ever heard! It's the attempt to describe an extreme experience by comparing it to another. Beautiful!
