Mom passed away last night in a beautiful room overlooking the east river at the hospice facility in Manhattan. She was able to have 2 days at home knowing she was there where she lived for over 60 years, working for dad's business which was run from the house, while raising 3 daughters and countless friends of those 3 tempermental daughters. I was not there when she left us, but was pretty much with her the whole time she was fighting to the end to move on to the next stage of her life journey. I had just left to go home and take care of the dog, perhaps she knew I'd be the one to take it hardest, so she gave me that final gift, or maybe her body finally said NO MORE. I thought I would be ok after watching her struggle to breathe these past 10 days, but I'm not. Not at all. The next few days will be tough, but as one crazy giant hearted fu pal said "you have a great bunch of invisible friends to help you" well he said something like that...and I do. You all have been awesome, and whether you knew what was going on or not, know that any smile, distraction, or annoyance was what I needed, and I thank you all for that. I really don't know what else to say... but <3
