I don't understand why humans have a need to control other humans. Why did this trait evolve in the human species ? I imagine it developed from food shortages and infant safety...but why did it travel to other areas that were not survival related ?
I don't understand why humans will fight to the death to keep a small patch of holy land theirs exclusively. Why can't they all just share ? Would'nt a benevolent diety be more pleased at the selfless act of sharing ? Control.
Why don't all the humans on the planet simply decide to put down their weapons, and live in peace with their neighbors ? It could be just that simple. Control.
Why do individuals wish to control the people in their lives through deceit, guilt, physical manipulation etc... ? If you think you don't do that you are wrong. We all do. We can control a person with things as simple as body language, suggestion etc...
Girl wants a drink and just does not feel like getting up to get one so she says to her new boyfriend " I'm parched". Nothing more than a factual statement but she knows that the boyfriend will get her a drink. Why did the boyfried get the drink ? Because he wants to be very nice so he will continue to get laid. Both male and female are contolling each other through their differing desires.
You control someone in some fashion every day. How did what was probably a survival tactic migrate to non-survival areas ? Why do we experience joy and satisfaction when we successfully control another human or humans ?
Maybe it was a genetic flaw that became dominant when the humans bottlenecked 75000 years ago after the eruption of Mt. Toba and has dictated our miserable species ever since. Maybe it's just the Yuppies.
