This is a CROSSPOST for Animal Action Rescue. If you can help, please contact Chrissy at the email address below. DO NOT CONTACT US PLEASE. Thank you!!! luna1.jpg luna2.jpg Before posting this, I sat here for an hour, struggling to find the words that would express the desperation of Luna's situation. How do I make this story stand out when there are so many others? Then I realized...her story itself will tell what needs to be told, and will ensure she gets the help she needs. I urge you to take the time to read her story below, and to then do whatever you can to help. Luna was born at a dog hoarder's house (30+ dogs). Luna, who is now three, has been on the same 2 foot chain in the exact same spot since she was two months old. She has never been off the chain.. never! She sat in mud puddles so long that her skin has a fungal infection. She could not move around enough so that her nails would wear down. luna4.jpg As she was chained there, for nearly three whole years, she was slowly going blind. Imagine the fear she must have experienced, her eyesight dimming daily, with her left at the mercy of whatever animal may come to attack her, or whatever unpredictable Georgia weather would ravage her. Luckily, Animal Action Rescue has saved her life; now, we need to save her sight. During her imprisonment, Luna developed juvenile cataracts. Without surgery, she will soon go blind. Right now, her eyesight is poor - she runs into things. At her trip to the vet (her FIRST, ever!), she ran straight into the steps at the clinic because she couldn't see them. When she was placed into her large chain link kennel today, she kept running into the fence, because she couldn't see it. luna3.jpg Yet, despite everything she's suffered in her life, Luna is proof positive of the awe-inspiring nature of dogs. Despite everything, she's sweet and loving. Despite everything, this innocent girl has retained a beautiful spirit. Despite everything, she still overcame her own cruel treatment and broken trust and placed her trust in another dog, as she learned to play for the first time. Despite everything, she offers a wet nose, warm heart, and true appreciation - unconditionally. Not many of us would be able to say the same thing. So, you've heard her story. The good news is that she's heartworm negative, and despite being a bit under weight, in otherwise decent health. Now, we just need to get her eye surgery and a home with lots of love and attention so she can make up for lost time. And, Luna is searching for a home. After what she's been through, she deserves the best, and I know there's someone out there who can offer it. Is it you? luna5.jpg Thanks in advance for taking the time to read her story. Please feel free to cross-post and pass this on to anyone with eyes and a heart. Animal Action Rescue is accepting donations for her surgery, which will restore her sight, but cost $2500 at the veterinary eye specialist. She has been given meds that dilate her eyes and give her some sight around the cataract. She is already so much more playful and happy now that she can see a little piece of the world. We need help to show her the rest of it. We are a non-profit, 501c3 volunteer-run organization, so any donation you make is tax-deductible. We ask for any amount you can spare...$5.00 can mean a lot when it comes from lots of different people. Donations can be made via paypal. Be sure to note that the donation is for Luna's fund!
