As I watched Guy Ritchie's latest movie, one word came to mind:
"Mediocre"
I didn't expect much going in, and I got what I expected.
I've been a fan of Robert Downey Jr after his role in KISS KISS BANG BANG and especially loved him in IRON MAN.
I was hoping to see what he would bring to the role of this classic detective.
He did well, but I'm afraid the writer's dropped the ball.
It seems as though they didn't let Downey be more creative with his role.
Speaking of the writing, they DID do a good job in the actual storyline and kept true to the classic storylines of debunking "supernatural" with "science".
And the wardrobe as well as the props and city designs were amazing.
Obviously, there will be a sequel and I hope they give Robert Downey more of a chance to make the character his.
Bottom line, this is a family-friendly rental.

Considering I work third shift, I'm the only one in my department working in the building.
The only other employees on my shift are housekeeping, most of who are two-faced old gossipers.
One woman specifically, named Joyce.
She'll be all smiles with you and tell her about her sick dog, but loves to tattle on me when I'm talking to the only housekeeper I call a friend.
Anywho, I found out that she wrote a letter to a building administrator stating she over heard me telling the housekeeping supervisor that ANOTHER building administrator could "suck my weiner"...
(get all that?)
What's funny is the supervisor I was talking to doesn't even remember me saying that, and she's quick to try to get me in trouble.
Turns out, the convo she THOUGHT she heard had to do with a button I was wearing from Nathan's Hot Dogs which has a resteraunt in our building...
"Ask me about my weiner"
Anyway, there's alot of supervisors coming to my defense and trying to get it squashed knowing I wouldn't say such a thing so I'm shrugging it off and calling it "Weinergate"...
Thanks for reading!!!
This Thanksgiving, I went to see "The Blind Side".
I wanted to see this since I am a big football fan, and like "underdog" stories especially when based on true events.
I had NO idea how touching this movie would be...
I'm gonna "man up" and admit, my eyes didn't stay dry through out the whole movie.
But enough with that, let me tell ya about the movie:
"The Blind Side" is the true life story of Michael Oher, the number one NFL 2009 draft pick.
Michael was born to a crack addicted mother who he barely knew, was usually homeless as a child, and didn't even know when his birthday was.
Michael, aka "Big Mike" flunked 1st and 2nd grade and finally schools were just letting him pass to get rid of him.
In no way was he a trouble child, and in fact it's shown how strong his heart really is.
By chance, he is accepted into a Christian school and invited to live with a wealthy family (portrayed by Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw).
The movie goes on to show how "Big Mike" affects this family, and how he's able to come out of his shell.
I'm gonna try to sum it up now, but could go on and on...
The performances in this were beyond GREAT!
Sandra Bullock had me tearing up or laughing CONSTANTLY as a strong-willed yet loving mother.
And there were certain scenes where you just CAN'T hold back a tear, like at the begining of the movie we see "Big Mike" after a high school volleyball game picking up bags of popcorn left afterwards in order to simply have something to eat...
Okay... think I'm tearing up again and I DID promise I'd wrap it up.
Please, don't think this is a depressing movie... it's quite the opposite!!!
In a world of "Michael Vicks" and "Terrel Owens", I'm glad "Big Mike"s getting attention!!!
Definately a family movie, and if I could give it more then 2 thumbs up, I would!!! I can't give this movie ENOUGH praise...

Well, I was fortunate enough to score passes to a special screening of "ZOMBIELAND" tonight.
I have to admit, I originally had no desire to see this film...
...but hey, it's FREE so why not?
I'm glad I went.
I was pleasantly suprised
Now, I'm not a big "gore" fan, and the opening credits had PLENTY of it!
Slow-motion shots of zombies eating flesh, chasing folks, and even a naked saggy tittied bloody zombie...in slow-mo...
This was when I was thinking to myself, "Yep, another movie I'll be leaving halfway through..."
Fortunately, the opening wasn't reflective of the rest of the movie.
Sure, there was your mandatory zombie-brain exploding every now and then, but what I was TRULY shocked about this movie was it's humor...
Woody Harrelson and the young kid playing the lead did an OUTSATANDING job.
And I have to say bravo to the writers, I LOVE a quotable movie, and this fits the bill!!!
I don't want to give away anything, so I'll keep my mouth shut (though look for the Twinkies running joke and a suprise appearance by a hillarious Hollywood legend....*snickers*)
...
Bottom line: If you're looking for a typical zombie-action flick, this isn't really it.
But if you're looking forward to laughing your ass off during a "zombie apocalypse", this IS the flick!!!
*btw, the people that were able to draw this advance screening to Kent said they're gonna try to do this more often. If so, I hope to bring you guys more advance movie Jaiviews*
Actually, I was waiting fot this one to hit the big screen.
I heard rumors of it leaking to the internet, but I didn't give in...
...at first.
I finally caved in, downloaded it, and watched.
DAMN, I'm glad I did!!!
The opening minutes are able to cover ALOT of Wolvie's past, and it seems to throw us right into the middle of the story.
The combination of action and story-telling kept me watching.
Now, of the few folks I've heard talk bad about this movie, their main gripe is the fact it doesn't follow the comic's history.
That's true but anyone who saw the first X-MEN movie knew this WASN'T the comics.
Bottom line: Great action, great story, and enough of both to leave you wanting more...
