We met by a beautiful Oak tree with bright green leaves and thick strong roots. Here we sat day and night until summers hot touch turned into falls chilled caress. The leaves above us started to change. Our love twisted and began to fade. As the leaves fell from the tree, I convinced you there was no other way…you had to stay. Soon the tree was bare, your love was gone. You were not the strong stable root I thought you’d be. You were the leaf that would only be there for a season, I was the strong stable root that would be there forever. As I said these things your hate seeped deep into the ground, suffocating the roots. Killing it…killing me.
