Man- where do I start with this song? This song and I have had years and years of a story. All the way back to being 12 years old and trying to go home to a mother who didn't want me. Today however, it means even a different meaning. I'm home in Washington, a place that constantly stirs up a ton of personal shit for me. It took me 10 years nearly after leaving this state to be able to come back to it. This song was on repeat on the plane back here on this final move. My moms gone now, a few years gone, I came home to finally settle her stuff and set the rest of her ashes free. This song is a strength for me more than a sadness though. It's odd but I hear this and I know it all made me stronger and now I'm strong enough for whatever I inherited from her. a Picture of her kills me and at the same time reminds me of everything and I'm ready to do it all over again to be the person I've become. This song to me is a journey, a long one.. and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
More recently I used this song in a compilation slide movie I made in respect to our troops this war , and bringing our boys home, If you havent seen it .. please watch it, though it may, make you cry.
Times have changed and times are strange
Here I come, but I ain't the same
Mama, Im coming home
Times gone by seem to be
You could have been a better friend to me
Mama, Im coming home
You took me in and you drove me out
Yeah, you had me hypnotized
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes
You made me cry, you told me lies
But I cant stand to say goodbye
Mama, I'm coming home
I could be right, I could be wrong
Hurts so bad, its been so long
Mama, I'm coming home
Selfish love yeah were both alone
The ride before the fall
But I'm gonna take this heart of stone
I just got to have it all
Chorus
Ive seen your face a hundred times
Everyday weve been apart
I dont care about the sunshine, yeah
cause mama, mama, Im coming home
Im coming home
You took me in and you drove me out
Yeah, you had me hypnotized
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes
Chorus
