Good Morning and hi there how ya doing and all that good stuff. I forwarded on thru email a piece titled “Just how many are there of me” It was not my work mind ya but a dear, dear friend I have crossed email paths with for years. The content was that of a question and find out style of email to which if a person wishes to know just how many people have the same name as they do they will have to check the site and see. The validity of it is unknown. Is there a site that gives out how many correct names of all individuals living in the states? It did not mention Canada or other countries. I did not check the snopes files to see if it was a hoax or truth. But, it leads to an interesting question. How many of me…are there? Well I can answer that quickly. Since I reside in Michigan, I do not wake up and bask in the morning sunshine of Florida so I am not there. I do not take the New York subway to work so I do not believe I am in New York either. I have no date on the ski slopes of Vermont and Colorado so I am not there. I can’t say I ever crossed any Indian burial grounds in the Dakotas so I am not there. The only oil wells I have seen in real life are the little daisy chain types in Michigan so I am not part of an oil magnet family in Texas either. So I must be the only Marty Bell I know. The real question is this. We are who we are right? If there is another with the same name it does not mean they are we or we are they. Many people will run into another with the same name of a person they know and right away say to themselves, “Oh the Nancy I know would never do that” Or “Bob would never eat that kind of food” Still others might be that person you wished the person was you knew at home. But, people are unique. No two are alike…well similar sure. I always say you want to test a friendship out, go on vacation with them. Hmmm not the same people they are when you just see them a time or two each week are they? Makes no difference married couples, single people, high schools chum or co-workers. To really see someone’s true colors spend a week with them. The color somewhat fades and you really never look at one another the same way. So just how many of you are there out there? One! Perhaps there are similar names, styles and tastes. But only one true you. So the mini-me sought after groupies can rest assured cloning is for sheep and I guess stem cell researchers and not for the everyday sleuth. You are who you are and if there just happens to be 300 more with similar names oh well… Have a wonderful day and continue being you. Because that is the person I know and do not have to worry about being someone else….
