Ok for those of you who dont know........ I put tar on driveways, commonly called sealcoating.
I was doing a driveway today on a county highway with very little shoulder room (about 5 ft wide) and my truck is 8 ft wide so naturally some of my truck was going to be in the road but still it was easily passable.
2 county officers showed up, the first one saying and I quote, "I almost fucking hit you, move your truck NOW!"
I offered to move it over another 6 inches (which was all the room i had left on the shoulder), but the left side of my truck was still over the white line at which point the 2nd officer said, " move your truck completely off the road or I will fine you , put you in jail, and have your truck impounded."
at that point I moved the truck to avoid the fine and loss of time on the job, but the way i was treated by those officers was flat out WRONG, my next stop was to the sheriff's dept. to file a formal complaint of my treatment. My customer also called the sheriff's dept. complaining about how i was treated by the officers.
Now I dont mind cops doin their jobs and preserving the public safety, but given the high visibility of the area, and the fact that i did my best to get as far over as i could, they should have been 2 things, for one, NICE, and for two, used better disgression. Because of their actions i now may have to hire a lawyer just to get an apology out of them. I dont even mind cops being mean , when the circumstances provided that they should be, but this one was hardly the case.
To any of my police friends Im sorry these 2 jerks and some cops like them gave ya a bad name.
...... and cops wonder why the public doesnt trust them as a whole........
