So I'm trying...ish to sleep, but I thought I'd do a thought-dump/update since I can't sleep.

Update:

I've 90% built one of my xmas robots, birthday was uneventful, which is typically how I like it. Perhaps a bit more nudity and ceremony would have been welcomed. And better food.

I had ... no damn plan for said robot I built. I still don't. Me and my brother talked color theory and we're both thinking dark reds and black. I... kinda want to veer away from black because it's just too on the nose, and every dweeb with a spraycan does red/black.

Some mods are in the thoughtworks, but I'm going to park the kit until an idea just busts out of my brain. I do know I want to take off these awful double-arc/rainbows on the shoulders. I think I can just file em off.


The main reason I'm parking this kit is that I invited myself to a build-off for the Nu Gundam (pics/planning are probably coming soon) and when I finished with xmas gundam, I deboxed my Hi-nu and flipped through the manual and pictures. Damn thing is about 30% bigger than most of the kits I have built, and it's part of the new generation with a more complete skeleton to build, and much better color-match on the parts, meaning there are a ton more small parts than an average kit.

I flipped through my instructions twice and got an idea pretty fast.
Weltall.

They're alarmingly similar in design, and Weltall is probably my all time favorite giant robot. Used to be my screenname.

I don't know if I want to do a color swap, or body mods... I'll probably load up gimp and apply the Weltall colors to the Nu Gundam, and if that's unsatisfactory I'll probably draw some modifications that I think I can pull off.


Cutting/drilling/gluing these kits is a major commitment to the kit's pricetag, and the amount of work you've already done, and will do. So it's a pretty spooky plunge to take.





Would I love to have a Weltall on my mantle? Good lords yes.
Will I get it just right? Probably not.
Will the other builders get it? Probably not.


I dunno how I found this modern playlist from some random person on spotify... but holy fuck it's good. I've had it on loop for 4 days.
