AT&T has announced that Samsung will resume distribution of a firmware upgrade that updates the Samsung Captivate Glide to android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The update, which was previously released in September before being pulled due to errors, will become available at Samsung's website beginning tomorrow, November 10.

The Samsung Captivate Glide update will be applied through PC software and a step-by-step guide to be provided by Samsung. It will finally deliver Android 4.0 features that Captivate Glide users have waited on for several months. The software will enable a better browser with faster page loading, offline reading mode, and the ability to request a desktop mode. It will also introduce the ability to use Face Unlock or jump directly to the camera or phone directly from the lock screen.

Android 4.0 also introduces improved notifications, speed enhancements, better multitasking, and increased access to more apps. While some Captivate Glide users may be disappointed that the device will not be updated to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich will be a noticeable improvement compared to the Android 2.3 Gingerbread software the phone has used since its release in 2011.
