A poem I wrote in high school
The sweet smell of roses hung in the air,
The sun shining brightly in the blue sky.
I run my fingers through my silky hair,
Thinking of the moment he said "Good-bye!"
My heart was broken and I thought I'd die,
Alone, I'm another face in the crowd.
Lost to the world with my head held up high,
Gazing up at the perfect heart-shaped cloud.
Feelings such as these should not be allowed;
I wish all these hurtful feelings would cease.
I feel as if I'm underneath a shroud,
All around me the soothing sounds of peace.
I never thought that love could be like this;
I had sealed my fate with a deadly kiss.
