Hello to my
(One or Two)
Blog readers
I hope this finds you with your last minute shopping out of the way
& with enough wrapping paper and tape to wrap that huge gift you got me!
lol
I cant wait until this holiday season a distance memories.
I guess I'm just not much for any of it,
I think its beautiful gesture and tradition
That's gone horribly wrong!
I'd be happy to go to sleep after a big turkey dinner Thanksgiving day
And not wake up until February 15th ...
(yeah, not much into the other Hallmark Holiday in Feb. either!)
I of course like many things about the time of year:
The truest meaning and the 'giving' aspect ...
I've encountered over my 44 years
some wonderful family tradition
That truly have warmed my heart.
I grew up with a guy who's family
was the founders of a local 'Secret Santa' program:
That go around and give gifts to the local needy children,
All volunteers & donations are local.
Its set up to give to the ones you'd expect:
(the poor, children's home & foster children)
But, also the ones who are often over looked:
"The Working Poor"
Those who are not under any government programs,
you know the ones who make it on their own;
living paycheck to paycheck -
that scrape up barely enough to get the small ones a little something ...
Then are heartbroken when the child wants or wonders 'why'
Santa gave all those gifts to their spoiled neighbor kid,
Yet only one or two gifts to them?
The program helped that type or
The ones who had the unexpected losses or expenditures -
And couldn't give much to their deserving youngsters.
That's a beautiful thing & it warms my cold heart thinking
about how surprised the whole family is
when on Christmas eve:
A well dressed and Holiday donned party shows up on the eve & day
with a few extra gifts for those
who didn't ask for nor expect a 'helping hand'
(all are secretly selected and submitted by friends, neighbor & relatives)
See:
"Yes Virginia, there is a Santa"
Eh, With that I pass on today's comment:
Just Wishing You
The Best
Wanted to share this
"Breaking News"
They've discovered that reindeer
Really know how to FLY!
