In an exclusive interview with CBC News, gucci outlet Prime Minister Stephen Harper says the biggest security threat to Canada a decade after 9/11 is Islamic terrorism. In a wide-ranging interview with CBC chief correspondent Peter Mansbridge that will air in its entirety on The National Thursday, Sept. 8, Harper says Canada is safer than it was on Sept. 11, 2001, when al-Qaeda attacked the U.S., but that "the major threat is still Islamicism." News of Harper's remarks prompted an immediate, overwhelming response from CBC audience members. At the time of this writing, over 2,400 comments - many of them irate - have been posted to the CBC News story. Some commenters felt the statements were propaganda, pure and simple. * book about propaganda before reading this story," added Jay from Ottawa. Prime Minister Harper's "Islamicism" remark sparked much debate, both pro and con. "Radical Islam continues to be our biggest threat. Even they say so themselves - their plan is to make a one-world Caliphate and force everyone on Earth to convert to Islam or die. Not very neighbor-friendly, if you ask me! Harper is quite right," said Facebook member Joan Massey. But Hammerthumb disagreed, remarking: "Talk about ignorant fear mongering. The largest terrorism act on American soil was 9/11, but he seemed to leave out the second largest act, which was Oklahoma City bombings. This attack is now marginalized by Harper in favour of propaganda. I know some Muslims. Great people, very religious, very devout, clean living, God fearing people who are anything but radicals.... Radical religious extremism is a threat, but don't limit it to Muslims." Hammerthumb's words set the tone for much of the discussion that followed.
