You meet and spend a weekend with someone new.
You think they're pretty special and that all things considered the weekend went reasonably well.
You hear from them daily afterwards, you don't see them the next weekend but make plans to spend the following weekend together. You are both looking forward to it as far as you know.
The Thursday night before that weekend, you are told by this person that basically they've had a better offer from someone whom they just met, and therefore won't be spending the weekend with you after all.
Clearly you have been rudely and summararily dismissed. Kicked to the curb. Like an old DVD you started to watch, then popped-out when a new one arrived.
Any reasonable person would realize this is the last you will hear from them. At least they were honest and had enough spine to tell you the truth. Mostly...
