More than a dashing,
colorful name.
Greater than a victor
attacking high walls of flame.
A winner among men
in defiance of fear;
bravely greeting hazards
and defeating them far and near.
How do we thank him for
supressing fear and fire?
For joining other heroes
in confronting death for hire?
Mere praise is insufficient to
reward his deeds of daring.
And poems don't pay him
for infernos often searing.
The fire fighter saves
in the hell of smoke and fire.
His safety must be increased
and his pay rise higher and higher.
