THE MOON
Jesse Cole MacArthur
August 11, 2007
It was just around sunset
And I was taking a stroll through the park
Hoping and praying
I'd make it home before dark
And I know this sounds funny
But it has been quite a while
Since I could look at the moon
And face that glowing smile
CHORUS
I'm looking up at the sky
Always wondering why
That big bright face is always
Up there laughing at me
It wouldn't be quite so bad
If for once he just looked sad
Then maybe the man in the moon
Would know what its like to be me
But I didn't make it
And darkness slowly swallowed the day
Now he's lookin down
To chuckle the rest of the way
He's never been lonely
He has no idea how it feels
And with all his laughing
Tell me how can these wounds heal
CHORUS
I know if he could only feel my pain
It would be a while before he'd smile again
CHORUS
