Just got back from the eye exam. They gave me the visual field test, or pirate test as I like to call it (it involves an eye patch) again. The same test was done last week as part of my exam so I have no idea why she wanted me to do it again. Midway through the test, which is quite uncomfortable, the intern administering it stopped and asked to check the eye patch, then started again. This had me a bit worried, but the results came back fine and it was even covered by my insurance(I'm still a bit curious about what happened). While at the mall after the test I ran into this guy Adam who I knew in college. Now, Adam is an interesting character. He's rather large and scary looking (back then, he wanted to be a pro wrestler), but also a very nice guy and fairly intelligent. The interesting part is that he's also probably the quietest person I have ever met. I thought I was abnormally reserved until I met him. In all seriousness, I doubt he broke 100 words in the entire semester or 2 that I hung out with him. He also used to follow me ... pretty much everywhere (he even waited outside the men's room a few times). He would have done very well as a wrestler, provided they could come up with a gimmick that didn't require mic skills. Needless to say, after a few minutes of very stilted small talk (what have you been up to? etc.) I made an excuse and took my leave. I also picked up a few things while I was there (a few shirts, a book .. Magic Street by Orson Scott Card ... and a Dr. Who DVD set) and that caused me to realize something rather disconcerting about myself ... I think I may be a compulsive shopper. You see, last week after the exam and buying the glasses I get anything else (I just spent $600 after all) and didn't come home with anything since the lenses weren't in stock and I left the mall fairly quickly and in a bit of a bad mood. This week, I bought a few things, since the exam didn't cost anything and left the mall in a very good mood. The only difference was the shopping. This can't be a good thing.
