This story begins earlier than you would expect.
When the gods first brought forth man it seemed it was the best they had done. They reveled in the glories man gave unto them. But one day when Zeus was walking among the disguised as a simple man he noticed the corruption and excessive moral decay. He brought this to the others and the sent Nemisis out to see if man was worthy or if they would withdraw. After a long search she was about to report her failure, then she came to a small farm. This farm was enough to take care of the family needs but greed had no hand in the building of the farm. As she approached she saw a man and his sons working in the fields and decided to approach as a poor traveler. She hailed the man and asked for a loaf of bread. The man took her to the house and called to his wife. As his wife entered his face lit up just as his wife's did. The love between them was almost a tangible force. The couple offered to have her join the for their evening meal, and the use of the loft in the barn for the night. Then the boys came in and there was that love growing with each person.
In the morning she left and once out of sight returned to Olympus and told of what she found. Each of the gods took turns watching then from hiding and were touched by their love. "This is what I had been looking for" said Zeus after a long time watching them. "They deserve our blessing, and in their quiet way will always be a ray of hope for those around them." So it was decided that they would be joined for eternity. When they went to the temple to make their offerings, and each in their hearts silently thanking the God's for the other and their family. The priest came forth and told them they needed to be properly joined in the temple before the gods. They agreed and went forth to be joined. In front of the statue of Zeus he took her right hand in his left, her hand and forearm resting on his left forearm and hand.
the priest came forward and took a gosimer light ribbon and wound it around their joined hands and arms. "This" he said "will join you for all times as the gods have proclaimed" then the ribbon just melted into them. That was our first narrate and our first life.
