Who could confide in you, even if it was illegal or immoral?
Who could cry to you over the stresses of life and you could calm them down?
That was me and Whitney...
and I will tell you the tale.
It starts when I was around 12... I went to Christian camp and met this adorable 14 year old named Daniel. He was my very first boyfriend, and my very first kiss. Though he lived over an hour away, we dated for around 8 months, via phone. We broke up but never forgot about each other.
I knew this girl from grade school, her name was Lauren. She was my best friend. She moved to another school district and met this boy named Shawn. She dated him and then they broke up. I asked her if she had a problem with me talking to him... she said no.
In April 2004, Shawn came to see me perform in my high school's performance of "Fiddler on The Roof". Afterwards, we went to Eat-n-Park... and walked out boyfriend and girlfriend.
I lost my virginity to Shawn a few months later. After 1 year and 9 months... my heart just wasn't totally into it... so two days before Christmas, I broke up with Shawn at that very same Eat-n-Park. He drove me back to his house, fighting back tears... and gave me the ring he bought me for Christmas. A beautiful blue sapphire with two baby diamonds flanking it.
Through our break-up, we remained close friends.
While Shawn and I were dating.. he spoke a lot of a girl he called "Whinnie". One day, early in our relationship... I asked Shawn if we could meet her... he was hesitant at first, but then he said okay. We met at the mall close to my house.
Within 10 minutes of meeting Whitney, we were handcuffed together, running around the mall giggling our asses off. Shawn just watched us with a big smile on his face... happy that one of his best friends and his girlfriend were getting along.
While Shawn and I were still together, I asked my first boyfriend, Daniel, if he'd like to talk to a skinnier version of me... thus we phone-three-way'ed Whitney... and a whirlwind romance began.
Within months, they both dropped out [got their GED's though], moved in together, and created the most beautiful child on this earth - Liam. They were married on October 31st 2005. We welcomed Liam to the world on March 9th 2006. I became the Godmother to a little angel, and I couldn't have been happier.
Shortly after Liam's birth, Whitney and Daniel relocated to Washington, then to Germany due to the military. I watched my godson grow up through pictures because I didn't get to see him after he was born. In May 2007, Whitney moved back to Pennsylvania, and I met my Liam, finally.
On Shawn's 21st birthday in June 2007, Whitney and Shawn got back together and fell deeply in love. Shawn loved Liam like his own, and loved Whitney like I had never seen him love before. Shawn took care of Liam so beautifully, and giving Whitney a break, of which she rarely got.
A week before Whitney's untimely passing, Shawn and her were engaged to be married. Shawn got her a gorgeous ring. And to be honest... I was so jealous of their love, because it was like poetry - beautiful, honest, perfect.
