We wake up only to be slapped across the face
With the television running its daily news
And be hit on the face with the headlines on papers
That tell of yet another finding or discovery
It is nothing much of a discovery
they are doing this and that
Yet in a few years
there is no follow-up
the story hangs dead
Cold within the media’s fingers as they tell of many other stories
So we would forget their tiny glitch
that error that may have changed
All the normality that people believe in and made the reality just a dream
What is behind the President’s eyes as he talks of democracy and freedom?
Does he not see the people suffering in his own nation
people fighting to live?
His eyes may hold a truth he never wants to say out loud
a terrible truth
That all he wants is money and go to hell with the welfare of the nation
I am not saying it is so
just saying it may be so
Behind these acclaimed scientists’ faces
you look for a spark of pride
Yet you see tired eyes
wrinkled eyes
wondering maybe
how long more?
Are we
the society
silenced and kept at a waiting list
while the Government
Keeps tabs on what is happening or pretends not to care?
Is ignorance really bliss?
As the media rolls on about racial discrimination and it being stopped
And the Government says that we have become a crime-free society
You wonder how many people are jailed for crimes they haven’t done
And sued for harassments
racial or biased
that they have never uttered
The Government uses media to fool us
blindfold us
and turn us in circles
To feed false facts that we are supposed to take with only a curt nod
No questions to be asked and you would be safe
so don’t ask why
And yet we are fooled
never questioning the obvious that lies before our eyes
Or do we have any right at all to question the authorities and demand why
Would we be taken away to some place or put in asylums till forever
The media would help
with their international broadcasting and such
They would make society blind again
Is it time to question?
But first
do we even have a right?
