Today I realized something, I watched a group of kids playing basketball on a Unicycle at the halftime of a Sonics/Tiberwolves NBA game (first pro basketball game I ever watched in person). There was one girl on between both teams, not in the racial term but uniform colors, whites and blacks. This girl was on the white team. And I noticed that people watched and admired these kids on the unicycle. I heard through the crowd, wow that kid can shoot and oooh good rebound...good block... good steal... but it lacked the same feel as if the Pros were on the court. Those I suppose that should be expected.... then as those calm remarks were stated the girl got the ball... the clatter rung loud as she missed the crowd sighed as a group a few mintues later again she got the ball and the crowd began again and as she finally made two points into the hoop the crowd errupted. into this awesome cheer.... To be American is to root for the underdog... To be American is to love our women more than our men... To be American is to care about our children... To be American is to celebrate every accomplishment... Most of all to be American is to share the memory of cheering for all underdog children and celebrating their accomplishments. Just an observation, not a stated fact.
