Waiting
She sits and waits day after day,
Hoping she will hear from him.
The day comes and goes with no word,
Tomorrow! She says, as the light of day dims.
How many tomorrows will she wait?
She wonders why she is not wanted?
She does all she can to please him,
Still, with the image of him, she is haunted.
She wants to scream aloud,
WHAT MORE CAN I DO?
I do everything I possibly can.
Why is it never good enough for YOU????
You keep me hungry and baited.
Begging for that crumb....
Then suddenly you reappear.
I can do nothing but succumb.
However, you will never know the hurt,
of being second best.
How demeaned, pathetic and sad I am.
I am now everything I detest.
And yet I remain....
waiting for some word.
Yearning, needing and craving...
Realizing my life is so absurd!
