What are you waiting for?

Why shouldn't YOU change?

We were talking about races and my personal preference in being selective about race. This is my conversation with the person that inspired the first blog about Changing myself. This is an excerpt of our discussion tonight, when confronted with who she would marry. ME: that's fine. but, how would you manage a household with a jew, muslim and christian living there? ME:: suppose the Christian liked pork...both the muslim and the jew don't like it, and can't eat off the same plates Howl1: I just would look for a spouse within my church. ME: but, the jew and the muslim disagree with religion strongly ME:: why would you look for a spouse in the same church? why not venture out to another religion and find someone? Howl1:: yeah, but if we're talking about friends I'd just not eat pork till I'm with them,if we're talking about a spouse, I'd wanna marry in my church, so the problem would not come up ME: there are lots of really good people in other religions Howl1:: no doubt, but I want my children to be mormons... ME: so, you wouldn't marry outside your religion to avoid problems? but, that's religious discrimination...that's not nice Howl1:: lol no it's also that we believe in marriage lasting even after death in cerimony is perfomed in our temples...and I want that, which is only possible if both bride and goom are members,I don't too much care about till death ME:: wow, that's about the same as me...i believe in marrying the same race Howl1:yes exept, I do it for one practical reason I want to be sealed to my husband once we dye...u don't really get anything out of it, nothing material at least ME: and, you can't do that with a muslim, or jew, or wiccan? Howl1:: besides, do you even know how sad it is to have mommy and daddy go to different churches? how the love of a sunday day of the Lord TOGETHER, would be missing? Howl1:a jew cannot be sealed in our temple for all eternity, he would not come in, cause he does not believe in temples ME: so, do you know how sad it is to have a mommy and daddy that are not the same race? when people in both families look down on the mixing? Howl1:: I see mixings everyday and believe me, they're treated great in utah...so I don't know what you're talking about Howl1:we have have black have white, half asians half white...and they're treated good ME that's because you are in utah, following the teachings of a man that taught the word of God but had many wives, though he taught against it. Howl1:lol we're actually monogamous, that's a legend.. Howl1: gotta run...hope I'll see ya on msn ME: actually, I know it isn't an accepted practice in Mormon church, but Joseph Smith was a polygamist Howl1: joseph smith in person, no, some other high priests in our church yes,but it was always with the consent of the first wife. Practice now over and gone, whoever tries it now gets excommunicated . Howl1: gotta run again , sorry, It's a mess ME: yes, I'm aware of the practices. I do research things before I argue them. Howl1: well not too much, Emma Smith never gave her consent, so he couldn't do it without her permission...just because it's in a text does not mean it's exact Howl1: sorry I have to go to bed now...I'll see you around right ? ME: but, whether it was in text or not, it was wrong. whether or not she consented to him marrying another woman, it goes against the teachings of god. does it not? Howl1: well not too much, Emma Smith never gave her consent, so he couldn't do it without her permission...just because it's in a text does not mean it's exact Howl1: sorry I have to go to bed now...I'll see you around right ? ME: but, whether it was in text or not, it was wrong. whether or not she consented to him marrying another woman, it goes against the teachings of god. does it not? Howl1: read genesys, with sarai and agar. Sarai gave her husband their servant agar as a second wife, so no, it's not Howl1: christianity has a long history of polygamy, it's not just other religions Howl1: the bible is full of sin, murder, hate, and violence...more than the world today. that doesn't make it proper ME: actually, Christianity has never supported polygamy. only kings that have wanted extra wives have altered the texts-> Howl1: actually the bible also sais, Agar tried to get out of this marriage and God ordered her to get back into it... Howl1: sorry I'm really really sleepy...see ya ME: 1 man, 1 woman. that's it. 2 biblical reasons for divorce, one being adultry. at that point, the adultring partner in the marriage has made a sacred bond that voids the prior bond. ME: either way, it's wrong. case closed. if it was right, more churches would be practicing it, including yours.
