It feels like it's been forever since I just rambled about me and what I'm up to. There is so much going on, both in the publishing front and in my personal life that I've been feeling a little behind lately.
First I want to offer a very public congrats to Ann Aguirre who got a pre-empt, 3 book deal from Ace. Didn't I tell you all she was good? Congratulations Ann, I know it is very well deserved and I look forward to becoming a top fan.
There's a great, short essay up today over on
Storytellers Unplugged. One more link in the chain that makes being a writer hard.
My Jason and I have been talking a lot lately. Blog followers will know this is a common occurrence. Communication isn't a problem I ever see us having. But one of the exciting things is that he's four chapters from finishing Corpse Blood. Seeing him excited about it is making me feel absolutely wonderful. And then he's also been using words like “impressive” and “congratulations” and “it disturbed even me”. This would explain why I've been walking around today with a goofy grin on my face.
That, and I've started belly dancing again. My doctor made a few comments about my weight, and put a little pressure on me that “feeling good” isn't enough. To that I give a hearty BULL! Because today I got further in my routine, without stopping to rest, or skipping parts, or getting angry and frustrated, then I did when I was at my lowest adult weight. I feel more secure in my body, I have more stamina than I have in a long time, I feel healthier and I have the best self image that I've had, well, ever in my life and these things are far more important than being “lighter”. Not to mention my blood pressure was perfect, as was everything else about my exam.
There's an obscene amount of importance being put on “being thinner”. Right now I'm calling foul. Healthy does not equal thin. Everyone should not be held to the same numbers. A busy mother of four should not be pressured to exercise the same as a single woman.
Activity is good. Healthy eating is good. Accepting your body is good. Loving yourself for who and what you are is good. And to hell with every single one of those people out there trying to impose their lifestyle, their choices and their rules onto other people when they can't even take a moment to crawl out of their own heads and think that the situation might be different for people other than themselves.
Well, I guess that's my rant for now.
Life should be fun, so here's some of those silly tests for the fun of it. Take a moment, have some fun.

Protector of truth.
Slayer of darkness.
Loooooong.
Longcat may seem like just a regular lengthy cat, but he is, in fact, looong. For proof, observe the longpic.
It is prophesized that Longcat and his archnemesis Tacgnol will battle for supremacy on Caturday. The outcome will change the face of the world, and indeed the very fabric of lolcatdom, forever.
Be grateful that the test has chosen you, and only you, to have this title.
