Well, all, I'm only here for a little while (though aren't we all? lol).
The saddest thing about Memorial Day is the remembrance of my dad. He was in this veterans organization and every year during the memorial day weekend, there were places to go and things to do. Living in Maryland at the time helped, but they had people coming from all over including Europe.
The culmination of all this was the event at Arlington National Cemetery, for the Memorial Day Festivities. See all those graves with an American Flag on them made one kind of misty-eyed, visiting certain gravesides, one being Gen. Pershing, and then on to the amphitheater for speeches, and where the President (or his representative) would lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns, followed by many leaders of various veterans organizations, to many to name here.
So, if I see you this weekend or don't, please remember the troops that have sacrificed their lives so that we can be free, and remember those that are serving us right now to keep it that way.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
