Current mood:angry
Today I was listening to the Eagle, a local classic rock station here in Rockford.
Mancow was doing his normal morning syndicated show, and for the last 2 mornings a very disturbing subject to me was discussed, with callers voicing their opinions on Tazering your own children as a form of discipline.
I brought this up on my Facebook page as well today. One person who chose to remain anonymous, making light of the subject, offering shock collars with variable strengths to use on children with the effect of a 9 volt battery to discipline with. Altho they tendered to be fond of animals and would'nt use such a device on pets,BUT CHILDREN WERE OK!
So weve gone from "Dont Taze Me Bro!" to "Dont Taze Me... Mom and Dad"
There may be an appropriate time where tazering is needed, such as in Law enforcement, where coked or meth'ed out combatants are needing to be subdued for the safety of the public or the officers themselves as an alternative to deadly force. But even then, this is controversial! What liability do the officers face if the persons heart gives out under the use of a Tazer?
If these are possibilities under the use with ADULTS...then how much more intensified are the effect when used on children?
One call in "guest" from Indiana, who is bound to a wheelchair uses Tazers on his 10 and 13 yr old children when they "act up" Offers that it is better than beating his children and doesnt leave the lasting effects of broken bones or bruising that other parents leave when they batter their children.
When asked how his children respond physically to the punishment? He says they usually fall to the ground shaking violently and foaming at the mouth!!!!!!!!
What loving parent could watch this, let alone do this to their child. And then he was asked if he has done this more than once to his children and he responded oh yes, he is going to teach them both to grow up to be men.
I am so shocked! I got my ass beat as a kid and as horrible as a punishment as that in and of itself was, I would take that over Tazing repeatedly.
I know time outs dont work, nor does excessive discipline done out of anger. But this tazing thing makes the Benadryl Moms look like patron saints to parenthood, compared to this emerging form of todays discipline!
We now can have parents treat their kids... like cops do criminals or farmers do cattle and this is scary as hell!
Pretty soon we can call Jack Dvorkian for a house call and just quietly put our unruly children to sleep..permanently!
What do you think about all this?
